Based in New York, the Associate Director, Marketing Technology will architect and lead a best-in-class, global marketing technology function for Gibson Dunn. This leader will leverage AI, automation, and analytics to modernize marketing operations and power client engagement, business development, and brand growth. Combining strategic vision, technical fluency, and operational discipline, the Associate Director, Marketing Technology will transform how Gibson Dunn connects with clients through insight-driven marketing.

This role reports to the Chief Client Experience & Communications Officer and will collaborate with colleagues across the Client Experience & Communications team, IT, Business Development, and practice leadership worldwide.
Responsibilities include:
Marketing Technology Strategy & Governance
- Define and execute a global martech roadmap that aligns with firmwide business goals, marketing strategy, and client engagement priorities.
- Lead platform evaluation, selection, and implementation-from initial recommendation through ongoing optimization and governance.
- Oversee all marketing systems (CRM, CMS, marketing automation, analytics, email, social, digital asset management) to ensure integration, reliability, and data integrity.
- Partner with IT and digital teams to connect martech platforms with firmwide systems (e.g., CRM, Foundation, Finance, HR, CMS).
Digital Transformation & Innovation Leadership
- Champion the firm's innovation agenda, introducing AI-powered and data-driven solutions that enhance marketing productivity and client experience.
- Collaborate with executive stakeholders to operationalize new technologies through structured pilot programs and change-management plans.
Campaign Activation, Automation & Personalization
- Activate multi-channel marketing campaigns through automation, personalization, and advanced segmentation.
- Drive adoption of marketing automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency across regions and practices.
- Ensure all campaign activity aligns with brand standards, data compliance, and firmwide business priorities.
Project & Program Management
- Oversee complex, multi-stakeholder martech initiatives from concept through delivery, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and outcomes.
- Establish repeatable workflows, governance frameworks, and KPI dashboards to monitor adoption, efficiency, and ROI.
- Institutionalize best practices for project intake, prioritization, and cross-functional resource allocation.
- Implement structured project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) suited to the firm's operating model.
- Coordinate with IT, vendors, and business sponsors to ensure successful delivery, risk mitigation, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Data, Analytics & Insights
- Establish frameworks for performance tracking, reporting, and visualization leveraging Power BI, Tableau, GA4, or similar tools.
- Define and implement measurement programs to demonstrate ROI and guide continuous optimization across the Client Experience & Communications organization.
- Lead data-driven decision-making across team and executive stakeholders, demonstrating and cultivating best practices at all levels.
Compliance, Data Quality & Privacy
- Establish and govern adherence to data quality, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Ensure all martech operations meet global data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and firm risk management protocols.
- Champion firm-wide data stewardship.
Innovation & Emerging Technology
- Identify and evaluate emerging tools-including AI-assisted marketing, predictive analytics, personalization engines, and client intelligence platforms-to enhance efficiency and engagement.
- Develop, pilot, and scale AI use cases for Client Experience & Communications team.
- Stay ahead of evolving technologies and trends to maintain a modern digital ecosystem.
Vendor Management & Operational Excellence
- Evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with martech and analytics vendors, agencies, and technology partners.
- Lead RFP processes for new and enhanced platforms, ensuring value, innovation, and alignment with firm goals.
- Manage budgets and operational processes for global martech initiatives.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build scalable global martech team, mentoring specialists and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement promoting growth and retention.
- Partner closely with business development, digital, and IT teams to design and deliver end-to-end campaign creation, management, and measurement.
- Communicate effectively with senior partners and executives, translating technical concepts into business outcomes.
Qualifications
- MarTech Architecture Expertise - Deep knowledge of CRM (InterAction), CMS (WordPress), and marketing automation platforms (Vuture, Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot, Salesforce Marketing, or similar).
- Data Quality, Integration & Analytics - Skilled at establishing and maintaining data quality; experienced with APIs, data ecosystems, and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, GA4).
- Governance & Compliance - Strong understanding of global data privacy, security, and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA).
- Vendor & Budget Management - Proven ability to evaluate, negotiate, and manage vendors, RFPs, and technology budgets.
- Project & Change Management - Track record of leading complex implementations and driving adoption across partnership-based organizations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Adept at partnering with IT, communications, and business partners to align technology and business goals.
- Leadership & Team Development - Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and manage high-performing technical teams across regions.
- Innovation Mindset - Forward-looking leader with awareness of emerging tools (AI, predictive analytics, personalization engines) and their practical application in professional services.

Experience
Experience:
- 15+ years leading marketing technology or digital transformation in a global, B2B, or professional services environment.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $250-275k.. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
